A talent search is really a two way street. People in the entertainment industry are hunting for talent. People with talent are looking for ways to be discovered. How does one with talent get discovered ? It is not easy but it’s perhaps easier now than in the past. In the past if you were a talented musician the best way to promote your skills was to perform as much as possible . To be seen as much as possible. This isĀ  still an important step on the road to fame however with the internet being a way of life one can reach millions of people, including industry people, without leaving your home.
Musicians are not the only people with talent. Several creative photographers are also looking for a way to gain respect for their talents. In the old days a photographer would have to purchase or rent space for a gallery and submit their photos everywhere they might be seen. Today a photographer can own his own online gallery for next to nothing, and submit his work to other websites dedicated to photography.
Established sites like MySpace and YouTube are becoming more talent oriented as well as newer talent specific sites like Taxi, and Broadjam.
There’s however at least one site we came upon that offers artists a way to promote themselves for free. An artist can create a customized home page and submit original music, art, writing and more to be rated by other artists. There are even actual castings where an artist might find a commission for his work. He may also enter competitions and receive substantial prizes. One thing is for sure. No matter how talented you are, you’ll never be appreciated if no one sees your work. The internet is an ongoing talent search, and it’s possible in our times, to be discovered without leaving your bedroom.
