Margarita Checa Art from Wood and Metal

It’s truly a rare thing when one person’s work inspires praise from almost everyone who sees it. The art of Margarita Checa presents one of the few examples of such widespread praise. Born in 1950 in Lima, Peru, Checa became interested in art at an early age. While attending a private school in London, she decided to go to the School of the Arts of the Catholic University in Peru. There, she was introduced to sculpture and began working in bronzes in 1977. She graduated with honors in 1979.
In 1982, Margarita Checa rented a studio and opened it as the Cristina Galvez Atelier (named after her tutor), along with painter Leslie Lee and potter Ana Maria Cogorno. After briefly exploring painting, she concentrated on the medium of woodwork. Her move to wood was dictated by the requirement to develop larger pieces, and after living in Costa Rica from 1992 to 1995 to escape the political turmoil in Peru, she started to make works that contained inlaid metal. These sculptures best represent her genius.

What teachers don’t like when students write an essay?

Teachers normally give essay writing activity to their students so that they can enhance their writing skills. Generally such activities depict the basic understanding of the students about the course material. It also gives a wider scope to the students to show their potential and knowledge. The content of the essay should persuade the teacher. Even though there’s no one-fixed technique of writing an essay, the general outline for the every essay is more or less the same. The teachers don’t like to see following five things when the students write an essay:

  1. Unorganized content The teacher usually likes to read an essay which is organized into effective paragraphs. Unorganized content drifts the interest of the teacher. The content of the essay should be presented in three general paragraphs. First should be the introduction paragraph which is written with eye-catchy phrases and topic statements. It should contain brief overview of the topic and should hold sentences that gain the attention of the teacher. Second should be the body paragraph which has to be informative and persuading for the teacher. The student should try to include all the essential information but at the same time should keep it as simple as possible so that it’s easy to read and understand. The body paragraph should be in a story form and should be in a flow. This means that the information should be written in an organized manner. Three should be the conclusion which is considered as the closing paragraph of an essay. It should be comprehensive and satisfactory. The conclusion should generalize the whole theme of the essay and the students should try to convey some message through it.
